Luke and I returned home yesterday from a weeklong visit with my family in Dunbar, Wisconsin. We had such a great time! We got to see Molly, Grace and Paul at the beginning of the week; and Janelle came home at the end of the week. We saw Grandpa and Grandma Salesky and Auntie Mary a whopping FIVE times, and we got to celebrate Marco's 12th birthday with him! All of this, not to mention hanging out with Nonie, Pappy, and Auntie April (boyfriend Scott), and Uncles Matthew, Marco and Antonio. I think it's safe to say, Luke got a bit spoiled; today was a rude awakening to life in Louisville.
I was very much looking forward to some chilly weather in the spirit of autumn; so you can imagine my dismay when the first several days of my visit were in the low 80s and VERY muggy. But, by Wednesday it was in the 50s; and Friday morning my dad had to scrape frost off of the windshield. You gotta love Wisconsin!
The first half of the week was pretty hectic. We spent a very fun day in Coleman at my grandparents'. Three of my aunts stopped by to say hi and see the kids. We took some great pictures outside with the pumpkins. Luke had the cutest fall outfit on. But, it was so warm outside that by the time we were finished taking pictures, he was sweating so bad I stripped him of all but his diaper! (Look at my photo album for a picture of Luke, diaper-clad, picking raspberries.)
The latter part of the week was so relaxing. The weather finally complied with my wishes, and we enjoyed a few nice walks outside through the woods and around the lakes. (I took this picture of Twin Lake on my parents' property. I was amazed to see how well it turned out for my little digital camera. Isn't it beautiful? Now you know why I love going home!) Luke got to see his Pappy's bunny, but mostly was interested in Honey, the dog. He also got his first four-wheeler ride!
As for me, I loved the time I got to spend with everyone. I was thankful to be able to spend so much time with my Grandpa, since he was been quite sick lately. We're so thankful for the improvement and healing we've seen the Lord bring. And, perhaps my biggest news is that I now have a new hobby. Crocheting! (LOL - Laugh Out Loud, for future reference) Janelle introduced me to this very addictive habit, and I spent most of the latter part of the week working on my skills.
I was sad to leave - I just love being "home." But, both Luke and I were very ready to see Chris and be back at our real home. It was smooth sailing yesterday morning on the flights home; I even managed to get six beautiful squash from my Dad's garden in my suitcases. We have another trip coming up this weekend. We are all going to Detroit for Jerry's wedding on Thursday, so it will be a busy week with little time for blogging. But we're looking forward to all being together.
Well, I'm off to my crocheting . . .
