We live in the upper level of a duplex. Downstairs are two seminary guys that we met through mutual friends. We actually hooked them up with this duplex. They're great guys, I'd call them sweet and really nice. :) But, apparently, all of their loud-mouth college friends just found out they have a great big tv, so they've all been coming over a lot lately. So good, they have friends. I'm glad. But, they also have a big tv (and surround sound, I would guess), so it gets rather loud sometimes, and sometimes the floor vibrates from their speakers. Last weekend they watched a comedy with Will Ferrell, so we heard lots of bursts of obnoxious laughter (it IS Will Ferrel after all). Other nights, it's been college basketball (I think), so there were random hoots and hollers. Well tonight, thank goodness, it's Walk The Line, the movie about Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. I could tell from the music in the opening credits. I loved this movie and want to buy it as soon as we can afford it. It also is a rather serious and sometimes somber movie, so any loud outbursts should be kept to a minimum. (In their defense, this house has horrible insulation.)
If either of our great neighbors ever reads this, for some strange reason, I don't want to be the testy lady upstairs who goes to bed early everynight and wants you to do the same. We don't mind too much, unless Luke wakes up. Then I guess we'll bring him on down to join the party. Who knows, maybe you're getting us back for hooking you up with this sucky duplex (and landlord).

so, walk the line is a good one? I've seen all the awards it's gotten but you never can tell with those worldly award programs (look at brokeback mountain! such a shame, I really like jake gyllenhaal) Hopefully Chris' grandma won't be a loud neighbor when you all move to michigan. :)
Happy Lord's Day,
Alicia
Don't get me started on the Oscars and othe awards. It's pretty obvious that movies like Brokeback Mountain and Transamerica aren't really the better movies - Brokeback Mt. only opened in select cities. It really was a shame for truly great movies like Cinderella Man and King Kong. And, yes, Walk The Line is really good. Don't expect it to make a big deal about Johnny Cash's conversion experience though. He was not a good husband to his first wife or a great dad in his first marriage. But, I love the great picture of redemption that his life is. I think that he recovered from his addictions because of God's grace via Jesus Christ and June Carter. If Elvis would've had a woman like June Carter, he probably would still be alive today. But I digress. See how living so close to Nashville has affected me? :)
I've been wanting to see "Walk the Line" too--hopefully our library will get it so we won't have to rent it. :) Hubby and I like some Johnny Cash; my favorite CD of his is "America: A 100 Year Salute in Story and Song." It's like a really fun history lesson!
Thanks for the recommendation, Katie, on Walk the Line. We'll have to see it.
I don't understand how your seminary neighbors could have time to watch so much tv! I hardly see Geoff because he's constantly reading or writing papers. I'm sure it'll quiet down as the end of the semester deadlines approach. :)
By the way, check out half.com for any dvds or cds. I usually get our movies for and Geoff's video games there for $4-20 shipping included. You just need an ebay account. The older the movie, usually the cheaper, but it doesn't hurt to look.
Hey, I just checked Half.com, and there it was, right on the home page! Walk the Line, for $9.25! Good luck!
They also have Brokeback Mountain for $14.99. hee hee.
Katie, you will look back on those loud neighbors someday and smile (sounds like you already have a good sense of humor about it). And you are heading to Scotland, not Ireland! After living for about 4 months in GB you would think I could distinguish these two places. Oh well, I never made it to either one - only England and Whales. I'm glad it's Scotland though "Blaylock" is Scotish and this will just give us one more reason to get over there and visit you.
