The day finally came. Luke really got his hair cut. (Although this is not the first time it's been cut.) I had been thinking about giving him a trim lately, and tonight after his bath, I thought it was as good a time as any. Chris was home so he could hold him while I did the trimming. Someone else watching me made the absurdity of my cutting his hair more obvious. I DON'T cut hair. I have no technique, no method. Thank goodness Luke has curly hair, or I really wouldn't be able to get away with it.
I really wanted to put some layers in the back, so Luke doesn't have a "bob," but Chris had had it, and didn't want me to do any more cutting. Now that it has dried, though, I see that a few layers really will help and think that I'll try that tomorrow.
I probably will take Luke to the barber sometime this summer. When I finally do, they're going to laugh when they see the hack-job that I've done. O well. I don't think you can really tell.
Luke is really a ham when it comes to taking pictures. He is overjoyed to be the object of the camera's attention. He sits so nice and still so I can take his picture. This one with Chris really cracks me up. This is at least the third picture I've taken that makes him look a little dopey. His eyelids are always half-closed. LOL. Also, these sunglass pictures are for Auntie Michayla. :)

Awwwwwww, I miss his long curly locks! Looks like you did a fine job of haircutting (from the front anyway). I don't envy your job as hairdresser. You'll have to show us pictures of his hair when it's dry and curly too. Great green glasses. Bet he loves playing with those. Matt isn't the most photogenic either; he insists he looks like a bowling ball head in pictures. :)
Alicia. I miss his curls too! I always regret cutting his hair a little. But, I grows fairly fast, and it was in his eyes and stuff. I add a few layers to the back this morning, and I don't really know if I like it. O well. I really think that this is the end of my job as hairdresswer for Luke. I can still handle Chris, because I just use clippers with an attachment. But, I think I'm done with Luke for now.
He looks so grown up now...i guess it was bound to happen! Don't worry sweetie...it will grow back! :)
I can't believe how big he looks! Cutting their hair is always hard isn't it; especially when they have beautiful curls like Luke! When it grows back, will it be curly again?
I cut Logan's hair last Saturday and by accident grabbed the wrong attachment. I used the 1/4" once instead of the 3/4" one. I was so sad. I don't mind a buzz cut but I would much rather have it a little long so I can at least comb it.:( At least it will grow back.
good job Katie! We cut Gavin's hair too, I wish that Gavins hair was curly so we didn't have to cut it so often! I alwasy hate it when I cut his hair b/c when I look at him afterward he just looks like such a big boy! I still get weepy everytime those scissors come out!
Good job Katie! He looks cute in all those pics. I think that's great that you did it, it seems like such a waste to pay someone when they're so little. Maybe you could have the barber give you a quick lesson when you take them. I cut Stephen's and it's so much easier.
My goodness, he's not a baby--he's a little boy!
Good job with the haircut!! He looks so cute. I still need to post a pic of Sam's latest haircut, but it's been a busy week. I'm fortunate that Jim is the hair-cutter in our family; he even cuts his own and I just help with the back! I'm definitely not a barber . . . :)
Sam liked seeing the pictures of Luke, especially the ones with the glasses . . . He said, "Baby--green glasses!" I bet they would be buddies because Sam likes to get into mischief, too. :)
Katie,
I loved Luke's curls, but he looks just as adorable without them. I always hate cutting Kara's hair, but cutting does keep the hair healthier (but I hate cutting the curls off of Lydia because her hair is only curly when it's long).
This is very interesting site... »
