Back In the Saddle Again . . .
Ahh, arlines, transfer fees, airline screw-ups, customs, missing flights . . . A few hours ago, I thought I was going to have a hernia but have decided to try the calm and trust the Lord route. Because of problems with flight staff having too many hours, Chris' plane had to land in Boston to pick up another crew member - or exchange crew or something. This caused him to get into Philly late and consequently miss his flight to Detroit. He was supposed to leave Philly at 5:35, but has not even boarded yet because of "mechanical problems." It is 6:00, and I'm starting to feel that hernia coming again. I'm going to get Lukie bathed and in his Spiderman jammies and hopefully be able to pick Chris up from the airport tonight, then we'll be back in the saddle again - on our way to Wisconsin. I am planning on driving the whole trip, unless Chris gets a burst of adrenaline and wants to drive or something. I have loads of fruit to munch on (how 'bout that, Fighting Words buddies?), Tylenol PM and a pillow for Chris, and a DVD player for Lukie, although I'm praying that he'll sleep most of the way. I've come a long way, for those of you who knew my driving stamina in the early days (namely Christina). Please pray that I'll stay alert and know when and if I need to pull off to get a grip. And watch out, if I have your phone number (which I might not because I threw my cell into the washer last night - NOT on purpose) I just might call you if I'm getting sleepy!

Have a safe trip and a happy reunion with your hubby!
We will be praying for you and your entire family over the next few days!!!
You can call me if you need to, to stay awake! I'm always up for a good chat! Have a safe trip!
you know you can call me. of course, if it's the middle of the night, i may be about as much help as you used to be on road trips. :) nah, i'll put on some coffee. i'm quite impressed that you're willing to take on such a feat. seems like you're all "city-fied" now.
we'll be praying for you....and be sure to stop for a power nap if you need one. they really do wonders on the road.
Katie,
We're praying for you. Take a couple deep breaths and keep praying - God will sustain you during this tough time. I can totally emphathize with being the only one far away from your family. When my grandfather passed away & I couldn't be w/ my fam, I learned that God's the only One who can truly help you survive.
For driving tonight, and if you like sunflower seeds, get some! Those are great for driving at night. Don't forget a spitoon!
I'm sorry to hear about your Grampa, Katie! I pray that God will comfort you and your family, and also hope you had a good and safe trip up to WI.
I had to LOL at you washing your cell phone--sounds like something I would do. :) I think the most interesting thing that's gone through the wash in the past 6 months or so was Sam's wooden Thomas engine (put there by him, not me).
Feel free to call if you need to, although I"m sure I'm too late for this post. Somehow I missed the update. Actually, I should've called you last night since Esther woke up at 2 a.m. anyways. Ahh the joys of parenting. Good job on the fruit - hope it keeps you awake though. Seriously, just get Mountain Dew or whatever it takes to stay awake and take a break from "fighting words"!
Hey...I hope you made it safely!
Praying for you!
