Slideshow Interlude: Our World Series Experience
If any of you paid attention to the fact that Chris & I had tickets to Game 1 of the World Series and noticed that the Tiger's had a pretty disappointing game, you perhaps uttered groans of sympathy for me. Did I mention that our tickets were "standing room only"? My legs and feet are pretty tired today. How did we get tickets, you ask? Well, Chris was just lucky enough to get through online last Monday when they went on sale. Anyhow, we headed downtown around 3:00 and looked for a place to eat. We grabbed a bite at Johnny Rockets (which didn't disappoint - excellent onion rings) and head toward the gates. We weren't too far from the front of the line and waited for the gates to open at 4:30. Everyone cheered as they were opened and we headed in and found spots to stand at the top of the lower level behind the Cardinals' dugout. The picture is from where we were - not too shabby, eh?
The game was fun; the weather was pretty cooperative (esp. compared to tonight's weather); and the people we stood with ranged from tolerable to friendly. The first inning was pretty exciting, especially when we scored the first run. Sadly, it was the only run until the end of the game. So, play-wise, it was a pretty stinky game; but that's okay. We still had a great time! We indulged ourselves in some ball-park treats too. (I had to chase the cotton candy vendor quite a ways, but I got the booty!) I had to take several breaks, just to move my feet a bit. But, Chris didn't move from his spot after the first pitch was thrown. We got Luke a commemorative World Series bear; I had my sights set on a nice zip-up sweatshirt, but it cost 70 big-ones. Maybe if I had been BORN in Detroit I would've made the splurge.
I'm happy to report that at this time, the score of Game 2 is 3-0 in the Tiger's favor, and it's the bottom of the 7th. Hopefully we'll pull off a victory tonight, and maybe we'll be lucky enough to win the title. But, I think the real amazing thing in all of this is that I'm actually interested in baseball. Quite an unexpected turn of events in my life, I gotta tell ya.
*More pics to come - in a slideshow, of course

SWEET!
You are a slideshow groupie, eh? They're addictively fun.
Bummer about the long-standing-night but what an experience for you and Chris to share! I don't know how you managed to stay interested in that long long game. I root for errors so something exciting will happen. From my attitude, I suppose you can tell that I'm not a baseball fan. :)
cool experience nana!
