There's a few big items of business in our lives of late:
Wheaton & the Move
We are still planning and very much looking forward to moving to the Wheaton, IL area towards the end of the summer. After a few trips to Chicago, we found a condo that fit all of our needs and even some of our wants! Of course, it was the last property I looked at. Chris has not seen it, but we went ahead and bid on the property a few weeks ago. We were able to come to an agreement with the seller, and had a home inspection done last week. We have a closing date of July 23 and hope to get some cleaning & painting done before we move our stuff there that weekend. We are really excited! The condo has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and is 1,050 square feet. It is on the main level (a must with kids), has an enclosed patio (also great for kids), and also a utility room with a washer & dryer IN the unit. Before I saw this place, I had resigned myself to having to deal with coin laundry for the first time. What a blessing! Praise the Lord. I'm having fun planning what I'd like to do and how I'll paint. I wanted to show you some pics, but I'm having a hard time downloading them into blogger. Somehow they're not in a regular folder - probably because they came from a CD. A lot of them are blurry anyways because I wasn't using my own camera.
Luke's Big News
I am roughly 14 weeks pregnant! We are all super excited, including Luke. He's pretty aware that we're going to have a new baby, and most of the time he says it's a little sister. The verdict's still out on that one, though we would like to find out the gender of this baby. I've always been a strong advocate of being surprised, but Luke & Number 2 will be sharing a room, and I want to know how to paint & decorate. I have felt pretty good during this pregnancy so far. I had pretty much zero nausea when I was pregnant with Luke, and I've had a little more with this one, but it was at a bare minimum and nothing to complain about. My biggest struggle during the first trimester was tiredness, especially having Luke to chase around. Have I mentioned that he stopped taking naps several months ago? That's been the toughest part, because sometimes, I want a nap! We are starting to do "rest time" in the afternoon, and Luke sometimes falls asleep then. My approximate due date is December 2, and I would love to have a girl! Two boys would be great fun too; I would just be relieved to know that I will have a girl. I would be sad not to.
While I'm blogging, I may as well post some other fun pics & recent happenings.
A cute pic of Luke in bed. He reads before going to sleep, and I go in later and clear the bed out. Apparently Silly Pig's idea isn't too riveting.
My guys in their muscle shirts.
It's pretty pathetic, but this is the only picture I have of Chris on his birthday. I did take movies though.
Chris got tickets to a Tiger's game, and we took his parents. I think Chris is so photogenic and has such beautiful eyes.
Opening pitch - we won this game!

Apparently Chris has never put soap in and turned on a dishwasher! He buys liquid dishwashing detergent for work, but I buy powder. He put liquid dish SOAP in! Oops.

Luke got a kick out of it though!
Luke's Papa bought a playhouse for the grandkids on Memorial Day. Luke absolutely loved it! (Don't ask me why he's only wearing a diaper - and don't bring up the subject of potty training!)
Everyone's welcome into the playhouse, as long as you knock first!
One side of the playhouse has a gas station and a phone. Luke loves to fill his car up. I wish I had gotten a pic of him filling up and talking on the phone - something he's probably seen me do a lot.
I was there too. Of course, the mom's usually the one behind the camera.
Luke and Grandma.
Luke woke up with a rash, and I wanted to take a pic of it to send to my friend Stephen (a med student, not one with just a random interest in rashes). I decided that it was probably nothing and didn't waste his time. But, Luke wasn't too excited about me taking pictures that early in the morning!
Weren't you just hoping to see a picture of a good rash? You found the place! Anyone's kiddo have mysterious & random rashes? It cleared up with some antibiotic ointment and a few days.
Luke on a playdate with his friend Claire. Nice shades, eh? They are both very cool.
Boy, you gotta keep a close eye on these kids! I look away for one second, and the next thing you know, they're holding hands! Luke looks pretty excited, but Claire looks a little worried. Luke's in big trouble if my Daddy finds out about this!
I was organizing my clothes and closet the other day, and when I came out into the living room I was pleasantly surprised to see the desk cleared of clutter! How did that happen?
Then I looked over at the couch. While I had been working in my room, Luke had been working hard to pile an enormous amount of "stuff" on the couch. Yikes. When I asked him what he was doing, he said, I'm loading the trunk. Well, duh.
And there you have it. Chris is going to lecture me about having such a long post and not breaking it up into smaller ones. O well. I didn't think you'd mind.

those were great pics! And congrats on the second people coming. =)
I can't wait till you find out what you're having. and those pics of luke are so cute...what a goof ball he is to load the truck like that. i also love the bubble one. but his poor rash.
Congratulations on the pregnancy! The pictures of Luke are adorable. He is going to be a great big brother. Have fun decorating your new condo and making it your own.
congratulations! it was good talking to you yesterday. i loved all the new pictures!
Congratulations to you too! I'm just 2 weeks ahead of you. Glad to hear that you're doing well so far. Like everyone else said, those pics are priceless. Luke has so much character. :)
Luke is getting so big! Congratulations!! I am so happy for you and your family!
oh wow, that was quite a long post. congratulations on the new condo and the baby! what a surprize! (Jk) i am looking forward to seeing pictures of both.
the dishwasher suds was so funny. good job chris.
that is helarious how luke cleared off his desk. - i just painted our bedroom dressers so we have piles of clothes and junk to sort through... well, i am almost done, but it is a tedious task.
i love you & i miss you! i enjoyed your post.
love, janelle
Ok, I must confess that I did not read every word. Mostly b/c I have heard most of them from you in person and didn't feel the need. HOWEVER...even if chris has never loaded the dishwasher and turned it on...has he never heard stories of using the wrong soap!!!! That was almost too amazing to believe. (If it wasn't such an annoying thing to have happen, I would think it was staged.) Didn't he graduate college early!?! He must be a book smarts kind of guy =)
I need to comment on several things:
1. I use my computer at work for more than just reading about the Tigers.
2. This post would be easier to read if it was broken up, but thats okay.
3. I have loaded the dishwasher before, I just was in a hurry and thought we had different soap.
Official congrats are in order! How fun for you all - especially Luke. Are you done with the being tired stage now? I hope you're having a girl too - they're a blast.
Very cool playhouse, Luke. We're jealous. Glad to hear you're doing a "rest time" still with Luke. I bet he really does need a nap most days.
Congratulations!!! It is so exciting to read all these recent pregnancy announcements. :) Hope you will continue to feel well and that it's a nice smooth pregnancy all the way through.
And the pictures were great! Luke looks like he is just sooo much fun, and all boy! I especially loved the one of the pile on the couch--it sounds like something Sam would do/say. They come out with the funniest things sometimes!
Thanks everyone for your congrats. Today was a TIRED day, but we had a succesful "rest" time. Luke didn't really rest, but I did, which is sort of the objective. Most days I don't think he needs a nap, but is ready for bed at 7:30. I much prefer that bedtime than 9ish when he does take a nap!
The whole computer thing with chris, and his defense up above reminds me so much of scott.
yahoo! great news! the best time to be pregnant is during a move...no heavy lifting. hee hee :~)
i LOVE the pic of luke asleep in bed...SO cute!
Oh Katie, Chris & Luke, CONGRATULATIONS!! I had a thought of you about a month ago; thinking; when are they going to announce they are having another. Wow, the little guy is getting soo big!!
Take Care and love the blogs!
Robin @ FM
Congratualations! Boy, everybody is getting pregnant - how fun!
Katie, So happy for you and Chris and Luke. Your life is hectic but I am sure you can see the blessings .
So Chris did the man thing with the dish washer-at least he did the dishes. Luke had fun with the soap.
If the baby is a boy or girl it doesn't really matter because it will have two great parents and I don't think they are decorating stars at birth.
katie, i know you would like a girl, but i think you're having a boy. let me know if you want to hear my theory.
April,
I would like to hear your theory!
Chris
Search "Chinese Birth Calendar" on google and follow the directions. it is 99% accurate. i wouldn't doubt it. the chinese are smart...and this was found buried near beijing for 700 years.
1. congrats on the pregnancy
2. I liked the long post format and all the pictures
3. Your new condo sounds awesome! Can't wait to see pictures
4. According to that Chinese calendar, Aaron would have been a girl, so...Hold out for the girl!! (although technically, it may be a little late for that) I hope you can find out and satiate your curiosity!
well i didn't mean to kill the curiosity. obviously the calendar is just a fun thing to try out...maybe not.
Wow. I loved the long post and laughed out loud at the cleared desk!
Congrats on the little one coming!
Congratulations, Katie! I tried the Chinese calendar, too, and Olivia should have been a boy. :) But yes, it is fun to hypothesize.
I LOVE Luke's face as he holds hands with Claire. What a schmoozer!
