On Location in Michigan

I don't know why I find it so difficult to blog more often these days. Not having pictures to post is definitely NON-motivating! But, we've been doing well - plugging away in the great state of Illinois. Last Wednesday, Chris' mom came for a visit. Luke loved having Grandma all to himself! It was a very fun three days - including a trip to the mall (more much-needed winter jammies for Luke) and of course the play area, several trips to the playground, Cosley Zoo, bowling (which Luke loved) and dinner at Giordono's - good ol' Chicago style deep dish pizza. YUMMO! (In the words of the pretty cooking lady.) So, as you can imagine, we all had a great time. Thanks Grandma! Saturday morning, Chris' mom went home, but this time, she took an additional passenger: Luke! He went to Michigan on Saturday for 3 nights all by himself until I joined him on Tuesday. I was a little teary getting him ready to go on Saturday morning, but he was so excited. Say goodbye to us! he said impatiently as we were trying to get out the door.

Of course I missed him that weekend, but Chris and I had the most fabulous day together! It was such luxury to just do whatever we wanted! I got some stuff done around the house, got ready and we headed up to Wheaton College's library - what a great resource we have there! I checked out a bunch of books on teaching piano and also previewed their childrens' books section - not too shabby! Then we "skimmed" the Wade Center and headed toward the historical downtown center of Wheaton. I loved it! There are so many fun and cute shops that I'm looking forward to spending more time in later. Then we ate lunch at the greatest place with the most delicious salad. I can't wait to go back again! The remainder of our day definitely wasn't too profitable, but it was relaxing and enjoyable! We watched 12 episodes of 24! Isn't that horrible? Please tell me you've done that before. I know we won't be able to do that again for a while anyways. :)

My 3 nights without Luke went by so fast, and I didn't get much accomplished other than cleaning the house (minus the master bath, which by the way, Honey, you did say you'd clean it) and organizing the boys clothes - which turned into a 3 hour job. I also spent 2 hours at the hospital getting a Rhogam injection; that was loads of fun. Meanwhile, Luke had a blast with Grandma and Papa - swimming at the community center, going on the boat and playing in the backyard with the play house.

I know you want a play-by-play of my time in Michigan too, but I'll spare you. I'm having a fun and relaxing time and have enjoyed spending time with Chris' family. This afternoon we're heading to Greenfield Village, and tomorrow we're having both breakfast and lunch out with family or friends. Then we'll head home on Saturday morning. I know we'll both be ready to see Daddy!

There is hope on the horizon that I'll soon post pictures. We're having dinner at Chris' grandma's tonight (our old home!), and she has a printer that I can stick my memory card into. Then I can put the pics on a CD. Cross your fingers!

Katie,
How did Luke do without mom and dad? That was nice mom and dad had time alone. Had lunch with your mom last friday.
Hope things keep going so well!

Girl, you need to just order a new camera cord from ebay. They're incredibly cheap.

What is Rhogam?

OH my, I laughed and laughed at your 12 episodes of 24! What fun! We watched it for awhile but it was too violent for me. Though the 4 episodes we watched were highly addicting so I can totally understand.

How wonderful and strange to have some alone-couple time! Sounds like Wheaton is a very cool place. Does it seem family-friendly? You'll have to give us a tour if/when we come visit!

Michayla: What a special treat to have a comment from Auntie. We love you and will call you tomorrow when we're on the road.

Al: My blood type is Rh negative, and if the baby has Rh positive blood, there can be serious problems that Rhogam prevents. I always have to have the shots when I'm prego - at 28 weeks and after birth.

I totally understand your aversion to the violence on 24. I looked down and concentrated on my crocheting a couple of times.

And we live in such a great family-friendly area and would LOVE a visit from the Horn fam! :)
