Today is my 25th birthday. My mom-in-law and grandma-in-law came down to help me celebrate, so, I had a wonderful day. Chris was pretty busy with work, school, and a long work meeting, but we were able to have lunch together and watch Survivor together. That was a nice birthday present CBS gave me this year – the season premiere of Survivor: Panama Exile Island.
God has given me many, much sweeter gifts than that though – the greatest of which is Jesus. So, on my birthday, here’s a list of 25 blessings I enjoy in this, by 25th year (in random order). (Thank you, Alicia, for inspiring me to make this list and contemplate on God’s goodness!)
1. My sweet, thoughtful, helpful, handsome, intelligent, hilarious husband
2. My darling Luke, who I spend more time with now than anyone else - He never fails to make me laugh, sometimes makes me cry, but then hugs me and pats my back when I do. He is a great source of comfort and encouragement in my life.
3. The two great nights of sleep that Luke has had the last two nights
4. Cotton candy
5. The color red
6. Amazing parents who I still go to for support, help, encouragement, prayer and love
7. My neighbor Julie, who has quickly become one of my best friends
8. The great neighborhood that I live in
9. The Andy Griffith Show
10. My cutie niece (and one on the way!) and two adorable nephews, Grace, Buddy and Elijah – I’m so sad that I can’t live closer to them.
11. The mild winter weather here in Louisville
12. Tony Boombaz’ Barbecue Chicken Pizza
13. My mother and father-in-law – I really feel like they love me like their own daughter. I know most people aren’t blessed with such great in-laws. This is one of God’s greatest gifts to me – more parents who love Him and love me too.
14. My sweet neighbor across the street, Gladys
15. LOST
16. Wireless high speed internet at home . . . so I can blog!
17. Clifton Baptist Church – my home church
18. My brothers and sisters – all nine of them (including you, Scott)
19. Johnny Cash
20. My parents’ paying for piano lessons for 14 years
21. Lukie’s laugh
22. God Word - to guide me as a fellow heir of Christ, a wife, a mom, a daughter, a friend
23. Michayla - A forever friend, who I can share childhood memories and still make new ones
24. Cell phones, email and airplanes – so I can keep close to my family when I need them
25. Beautiful sunshine
There are many, many more; but these are just a few. Thanks to my friends who wished me a Happy Birthday today!
Love,
Katie

Well happy birthday Katie dear! How does it feel to be a QUARTER OF A CENTURY?? teehee! I actually loved 25 and was sort of sad to turn 26 :). Had I known it was your big day, I would have sent you the most hilarious ecard I have seen in a while...I think that I will anyway!! :) I need your email address though...
Anyway, sorry about your bad news on ground hog's day - but I am glad to see that the little rodent didn't ruin your day with his weather prediction...Isn't God good that you could EASILY write down 25 things you were thankful for, but know that you could've kept going!!?!
Have you heard anything about Neesh? I know that she's due soon - Hopefully they will post pics!!
Thanks for listing all your thankful things! What a great idea. My birthday is Saturday, so I may have to follow your example (except i'll only be 24 :)
Best Wishes for the next year. K. Barker
Hi there katie,
Happy Birthday to you! It was so nice to find a comment from you on my new blog. I truthfully can't even remember how i stumbled onto your blog...but it was so good to see all the pictures of your family and of Daniel's family too. It's such a great way to keep in touch.
I enjoyed reading your list of things to be grateful for. We truly are so blessed.
Amanda
Katie!
You're a LOST fan too?!?!?! Our T.V. is only on once a week - to watch that show. We are huge fans. Every Wednesday we have several friends over to watch.
About Clifton Baptist Church - do you know JJ and Becky Sherwood? I believe Clifton is the church they attend. They told us to check it out when we move to Kentucky. They love it. Yes - we have decided to go to seminary. However, we have to sell our house before we can go. Please pray about that! That is a major request. Our plan is to move in July - but a lot has to fall into place for that to happen. We are trusting in Him!
-Kelly (you're not so faithful blogging friend)
Shyla: Thanks for the well wishes. Regarding Punx. Phil, I always thought that only 6 more weeks of winter was the good news. We always had at least that much left in good ol' northern wisconsin. My email address is kbruno01@yahoo.com; I'll be waiting for that card. :)
Katie: Happy early birthday! Is it tomorrow, or next Saturday? I hope your day is special . . .
Amanda: I agree - blogging is great for staying in touch. I'm getting to know people that I didn't really know at all before!
Kelly, my no-so-faithful blogging friend: I cut you much slack because I know how demanding full-time teaching is! I'm sad that you're moving here right as we move away. Why does that always happen? I don't think I know the Sherwood's. How long have they been at Clifton? There are many people that I don't know; families are always coming and going. I think you'll really like it down here though; and, if you decide to go to Clifton, you'll love it there too!
Happy Birthday Katie!!
I love hearing about other ppl's blessings in thier lives. It really reminds me of all of mine!

Oops, I didn't realize that Chris was logged into blogger. The above comment is obviously from me.

Katie,
I'm glad you had a happy birthday. Wish I could've hopped over to Louisville to celebrate with you! :) We don't have a good excuse to forget your birthday since you do share it with Groundhog's Day. You're a great friend and have been such an encouragment in my first few weeks of motherhood and in my walk with Christ. love you!
Katie,
Thought I already posted a comment here but I don't see it. Feliz cumpleaños amiga! Looks like you had a grand time for your 25th birthday! I love spending my special days with our little family doing little special things. Thanks for your list of blessings. What a great reminder to reflect on all the riches we have in Christ! Even little things like heat, shelter, food, electricity . . . God is so good to us when we don't deserve it. What a tremendous God is ours!
Never seen Lost, but I am an amazing race fan though I never get to watch it.
Does it feel weird to be closer to 30 than to 20 now? :) That struck me when I turned 25. No turning back girl! It's all uphill from here! :)
Love ya,
Alicia
Happy Birthday:)
well Katie, Sol didn't come on your birthday, for which I apologize. But happy birthday nonetheless.
Excellent, love it! » »
