It's trying to be spring here in Louisville, and along with that comes trouble for allergy-sufferers. We believe that Luke struggles with allergies due to living in the Ohio Valley, and he has been on 2 different types of allergy medication for several months now. The worst side-effect of the allergies is that he has developed an ear infection (otitis media) eight times now, due to the drainage. Last weekend was stormy and REALLY muggy. These pictures demonstrate what the humidity does to his hair (and after I brush through it. :-) He's had a pretty bad runny nose since Saturday and I have been praying that his ear(s) wouldn't get infected, but I believe they finally have. Last night he woke up several times. At 2:00A.M., he woke up feverish and really thirsty. I gave him a drink and some more nasal decongestant, and we sat in our favorite rocker. AG was on TV Land. It was Episode #161 - Opie's Job (I had to look that up. I did NOT know that trivia.) I gotta tell ya, this episode is a real tear jerker at the end. Here is a summary that I found on this episode guide.
"Opie competes with Billy Crenshaw for a job as a box boy at Foley's Market, and after a weeklong trial, wins the position. Opie learns Billy wanted the job to help pay family medical bills, so he cleverly gets himself fired by telling Foley he'd rather be playing baseball. When Andy finds out secondhand that Opie didn't want to work he scolds him and then, hearing his explanation, realizes his son has become a man."
When Opie tells Andy the real reason why he got himself fired, I could just feel his horror at his peer's hardtimes compared to his comfortable life and frivolous motivation to buy a new bike. Ron Howard was such an incredible child actor. He made me CRY (Hush up, all you old friends of mine. I don't cry as easily as I used to. Alas, I have been hardened by life.) So, there we were at 2:28A.M. I was blubbering like a fool and Luke had a feverish, deer-in-the-headlights look on his face. Poor thing.
I just thought I'd throw these two pictures in with this post. Luke wanted me to put stickers all over his face. His current obsession is stickers and lotion (he eats it).

I wasn't going to say anything about crying, but you brought it up! J/K..I think after going through pregnancy and becoming a parent you have a license to cry about whatever you want. :) I love Luke's Packer outfit and hope he gets to feeling better soon! I'm not looking forward to ear infections.
poor lukie! i'm loving the hair though. too cute.
and btw....what a patz! (sorry chris but you know it's true). especially in the GB outfit. oh my word, he looks like daniel and matthew all rolled into one!
i'm very thankful that connor has at least been sleeping well while he's sick. i don't want to go back to those 2 am days!
Thanks for the good wishes. Christina, EVERYONE says he looks like a Patz, and a lot of people who knew Matthew when he was a baby say Luke looks like him. :)
The thing that stinks is that I can't get him in to the dr. until late tomorrow afternoon, so I think I'm going to take him to an after hrs. clinic tonight.
I love Lukes hair! He is such a cutie!!
I hope he is feeling better soon! Ear Infections are the worse! I myself can not imagine having one. I hope he is feeling better and that you get some sleep tonight!
Gotta love a Packer baby:)
I'll tell you a little secret for the poor ears.
I purchased a bottle of garlic oil at the health food store--it has another herb mullein but I don't think that is necessary.
Garlic is antiviral.
When my son says his ears hurt, I put the bottle in a cup of warm water (not hot) and then drip a couple drops in his ears.
hope that helps--never hurts to try:)
He is just so adorable! You guys must be so proud and happy!
I hope everything will work out with the allergies... I know that can be a major pain ...
What cute fro-head! Poor little guy! Is there anything the docs can do for his chronic ear infections? What about tubes in his ears?
I know, AG shows are chocked full of great morals and touching moments. Opie always seems so sweet and sincere. Have you seen the episode where he tries to steal Barney's girl? I love that one!
Praying for you two. Hope you two can watch AG at normal hours from now on. :)
Poor little doll! He certainly is a Patz, isn't he! Hope Lukie feels better soon! Love the hair!
I think that I have finally met my fro match!
Hail king lukie!
from the dethroned fro-queen,
