. . . Soon It Will Be Christmas Day . . .
Where are the hours in my day going to? It is not possible that it is already December 13th! Christmas is only 12 days away?!? Today I did nothing but wrap gifts and frost sugar cookies. I am thoroughly sick of both tasks. Making sugar cookies is so time consuming! They're worth it though.
I've had lots of blog-worthy days and events but not much time to blog; so I'll give you the highlights.
Last Friday night was Chris' and my big date night at The Fox Theatre to see White Christmas. It was absolutely amazing, fabulous, incredible, etc! We started off the night with dinner at Pizza Papalis -- our favorite place to eat in Detroit, though we actually went to the Dearborn location. This is the first time that I had ever been to The Fox, and it is such an incredible building. SO cool! I took a picture -- not really sure if that was entirely legal, especially since I didn't see anyone else with cameras. No theatre personnel jumped me after the flash, but I'm still not sure it was allowed. The play was great - so professional and no disappointments. I LOVED the dancing, the music, the love story (which was SO much better since the actors that played Bob and Betty are married in real life!). I was pleased that the night did not include that awful song/dance "Choreography" that's in the movie. I still got goose bumps at the end when they sang to the general, and I started to get nervous that there weren't going to be any red, flowy dresses and muffs at the end. There were muffs, but not on Betty and Judy. They should've gone with the muffs! If you know what I'm talking about, you just might be crazy . . . like me!
Other Christmas festivities have included building a gingerbread house with Luke - something I came to regret. Two years old is way too young for building a house out of candy, unless you don't mind if your two-year-old eats all of the candy. Yikes, we've had some bad sugar-highs here lately.
On Sunday night, Luke debuted as a sheep in the children's Christmas program at church! When I dropped him off at the nursery, I tried to get his costume on, but he would have none of it! It was like Halloween all over again, but this time I didn't have any chocolate to use for bribery. But, it turns out that the girls in the nursery were able to get the costume on him after all, and he walked down the aisle with all of the other little sheep! They sat on the step in front of the bigger kids and just looked cute while everyone else was singing. Luke had a very serious look on his face. He must've been the leader of the flock and was going through their exit strategy in his mind. Sadly, we forgot our camera! :( I saw a few moms with theirs though, so I'm hoping to get a copy.
I've also been trying to get some baking done, but so far have only made Butterfinger Balls and sugar cookies. O yeah, I already mentioned the sugar cookies. It's been a long day, and if I see one more cinnamon dot . . .
Tomorrow I'm off to finish up a little last minute Christmas shopping; I only have a few more things left to get before a busy weekend. Hope you're enjoying this Christmas season!
PS: Did the title of this post bring "Silver Bells" to mind? If it did, you were right! And also a teensy bit crazy. Like me.

Hee-hee! I whole-heartedly understand your frustration with the sugar cookies. I usually make them every year at Christmas time but I promised myself I wouldn't go through the torture again this year. I love the finished product but they take so stinking long! This year I'm making 4 batches of very easy microwaveable fudge instead.
And yes, I did get silver bells in my head from your title. :) Thanks! That's one of the cheesier Christmas songs but I have a version by Bing that's pretty good.
NO MUFFS?!? No way? Muffs must be worn with red velvet dresses lined with white fur . . .
This fox place sounds amazing! Is this the same place the Hairgroves went to a while back?
C'mon, Choreography isn't that bad. A little weird but it's definitely comical to watch Danny Kaye's facial expressions. I can handle Choreography way better than I can take the ballet sequence in Oklahoma or the "Gotta Dance" song in Singing in the Rain.
oh katie you are so funny,
yes, silver bells came to my mind. i can't wait to be home for christmas!
so many memories.
i love you katie.
