Well, we have lived through our first real emergency with Luke. Last night, I was going to the bathroom downstairs, when I heard a bang, crying, and Chris yelling for me to come up. Splurts of blood met me when I turned the corner at the top of the stairs. My son got his first real split-head. Right in the middle of his forhead was a gash, almost an inch long. He was dizzy, ran into the kitchen, and fell into the corner of the dishwasher. It didn't bleed for very long, and Luke calmed down pretty quickly. So after getting him some Tylenol, I got ready to make a trip to Urgent Care. Luke stayed calm on the way to the dr. and even got hyper in the waiting room. It definitely didn't seem to be bothering him at the moment. But once we got into the exam room, he bumped his head against mine, and it started bleeding again. The doctor finally came in, took one look at it, and confirmed that it would have to be sewn up. He said that the shots to numb the area would be the worst, but Luke screamed with pain every time he put a stitch in: 6 stitches in all. Luke was very brave and didn't try to move except when the actual stitch was going in. He was pacified with a sucker on the way out of the office, and once we got home, he held me to my offer of having a sweet when we got back - downing 3 fun-size candbars in a matter of minutes. It was 9:00 at night, but I didn't care. I felt so bad for the pain he just went through.
Later on, I looked at Chris and said, Well, that's over. Our first "emergency." And you know it's probably not the worst. Six stitches isn't fun for a two-year old, but I know it could've been MUCH worse. This morning Luke's doing great, and he doesn't seem to be bothered by it. I'm sure that cleaning it won't be a walk in the park, but we'll manage.
Pictures to come!

Poor babies!! I mean you andChris. It is hard when your little one gets hurt. So glad Luke is okey.
Thats #1. But you have proven you can handle it.
How is ev eryone doing? How is Chris's grandma?
Boy you really have had it.
Wow, how scary! Sounds like you all kept your cool. I think I would have freaked to see all that blood coming from his head. Maybe he'll actually be proud of his stitches in a tough guy way. :) When does Chris' gramma come home?
