While Chris was Gone

Luke and I had a great time together while Chris was in San Diego. Chris is so helpful with Luke and plays so much with him, I am very happy to have him home! Luke has so much energy these days, and I have none! This makes for a bad combination and sometimes left me emotional and discouraged, but we made it! We enjoyed 2 play dates and also got the Christmas baking done that I had planned. The paint and brushes did not get touched, but I did address all of the envelopes for my Christmas letters (minus several that need updated addresses). Luke had some "angel" moments, one of which was unrolling an entire huge roll of paper towel! I was so frustrated (as Nicole can attest, since I was on the phone with her when it happened). That is something a 1 year old does - not a 3 year old! But, I have to say, it was with a different motive that Luke committed this act of mischief than when he unrolled a roll of toilet paper when he was younger. He needed to get all of the paper towel off to get to the telescope. Well duh. That makes total sense. Sigh.

This was before Chris left, but it cracks me up so I had to add it. Luke loves flashlights, as demonstrated by him sleeping with one.

2 batches of Butterfinger Balls. We ate a few, but the rest are safely in the freezer, and I have forbidden myself to get them out until after December 1!

Luke was actually preoccupied with a cartoon while I made the BB's. (which was kinda nice, I gotta say. It's a messy job!) But he did enjoy licking the spoon afterwards!

Most people think rolls of paper towel are handy. You should try folding them all neatly in a stack. It makes total sense - they're more difficult to tear off and take up more counter space!

Luke sleeps with the things he loves. Another thing he loves - his vacuum. He's a strange kid, I tell ya'.

I had to take this pic because by the end of this day, Luke had me tearing my hair out. I went into his room to check on him, and he looked like an angel.

2 batches of Russian Teacakes - renamed Snowballs by Luke. He did help me with this one and enjoyed all of the powdered sugar. All of the powdered sugar on the floor did motivate me to vacuum the whole house though!

Here he is - happy to be snuggling with daddy on the couch. Chris and I were exhausted on Sunday from little sleep on Saturday. Of course, Luke slept peacefully all night, but we ended up having a good day. We didn't make it out of the house because Luke was all stuffy, coughy and snotty. It was a nice relaxing day together.

Luke wanted me to take a picture of him and daddy in their matching (almost) pajama pants. He loves to be the same as his dad.

He wanted to crouch in this picture. :)

Those cookies look incredibly yummy! I've made your teacakes twice now and they always get gobbled up quickly. The butterfinger balls sound way too dangerous for me though.

Glad Chris made it home safe and sound. You must be enraptured that he's home to take care of you and give you a Luke break.

Take care of yourself and get your rest!
